The Uruguayan defender has expressed a desire to compete in Serie A as his contract with Fenerbahce comes to an end...

Despite the ongoing doubt surrounding the future of the club, it seems Roma are not losing their focus in the transfer market, as they search for some reinforcements for the coming season.
With his Fenerbahce deal coming to an end, it seems Diego Lugano has been contacted by the Lupi, following his recent comments to forzaroma.it.
The Uruguayan has long been on the radars of Milan and Lazio and it now appears the Giallorossi have joined the hunt to sign the 28-year-old central defender.
“I want to play in Europe and the Italian championship would be the summit of my ambitions. My contract with Fenerbahce is at an end and I am now overlooking offers from a number of clubs,” Lugano stated.
When asked whether the Giallorossi were one of the clubs to have proposed a deal he was in no doubt.
“Roma? Yes they want me,” he responded confidently.
