Diego Lugano can add two more names to the list of Italian suitors. A report this weekend says that Italian giants AC Milan and Fiorentina are interested in the Fenerbahçe defender. Lugano has also been mentioned in connection with Serie A clubs Juventus, Inter Milan, and Lazio, and the agent for the star confirms that the list of clubs interested is growing.
According to a report this weekend in La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan and Fiorentina have joined the ranks of clubs interested in Diego Lugano. The 28-year-old defender is in high demand and will be a free agent at the end of the season. Fenerbahçe officials have stated they believe they will re-sign Lugano to a new deal, but it won't be easy. The Uruguayan star, who also has Italian citizenship, has seen his stock rise among Serie A clubs throughout this season.
Juan Figer, the agent for Lugano, told calciomercato.com "Yes, it's true - there are several Italian clubs that want Diego. I would say the names you read in the newspapers are true."
Figer went on to say that Lugano and his family are happy in Istanbul, but the defender welcomes the attention from the Italian clubs. Figer says they will wait and evaluate all offers before making a decision. The agent told reporters that Lugano could make a decision within a month.
